When children are baptized, the congregation promises to provide for the support, encouragement and education of those involved in this sacrament. Our Sunday School program provides that support in many ways. It is the purpose of our Sunday School to inform children that God breathes life into them, gives them power to do His work in everyday life and provides for them all of their days. Through stories, crafts, social interaction, worship and Bible study the children of ur church family accomplish these tasks as they grow in age and faith. Dedicated people who teach, hekp, substitute, and volunteer make our program work. Classes are provided for children with caring adults who spend time, invest energy and talent and develop activities that accommodate the needs and interests of children curious about God and their own faith. A solid curriculum directrs children through steps as they learn about our church and our beliefs. Activities and special times together reinforce the caring atmosphere that nurtures children in positive ways. While our childfen are provided with many things, they also provide for others in many ways. As they learn of God's love, they are taught that humans respond in love to others, serving and caring in the world. The children support a child through the Christian Children's Fund. Our "adopted" daughter is Wanza, a child living in Kenya. Our high school group also travels across the country touching lives and repairing homes through the workcamp program. Special events this year included a "Sunday afternoon at the YMCA in April, and a church picnic held at the Hansen's(Karen McConnell's parents) in Mayfield. |
