Arts For Kids

This series of programs is made possible with funds from
the Decentralization Program,
a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts
administered by the
Schoharie County Arts Council.

Arts for Kids is a series aimed at children and young adults aged 4 - 20 years old. Each artist has their own special niche and will allow those in attendance to hear and view how the Arts have benefited and expanded their horizons, and helped them cope with hard times.

From the creativity of music to the loss of loved ones in a terrorist attack we have tried to put together a well rounded series of events and artists that will give you a rare glimpse into their world in an up close and personal setting. Mike Campese will be giving a group guitar lesson so bring your guitars. Janet Robin will answer your questions from her early lessons with guitar legend Randy Rhoads to being on a major label at age 18 to finding her own voice and maturing into a renowned singer songwriter. Guy Gilchrist will show you how to draw some of his most beloved characters including The Muppets, Nancy and Mupdpie. Colleen Kelly will share her sorrow at the phone call informing her that her only brother was at a meeting at the top of one the of World Trade Center towers on September 11, 2001 and how she dealt with that loss and turned to writing and becoming an activist for peace.

We are also fortunate to be working with Schecter Guitar Research and Daisy Rock guitars who will be donating two brand new guitars for giveaways at two of the events. (Sorry 'old timers' but the giveaways are only available to the youngsters, ages 4 - 20)

At the Mike Campese show on August 27 someone will walk out with a brand new Schecter guitar. Schecter has made guitars for Pete Townsend of the Who, Ian, Nick and Mukuna from The Neville Brothers and Jerry from Pappa Roach to name but a few.

On August 6 some lucky person will be walking out of the Janet Robin show with a brand new Daisy Rock guitar, the same brand that Hilary Duff, Aly and AJ, Lillix, and Susan Hoffs of The Bangles play. Daisy Rock was formed with female musicians in mind, however several of the artists that use and endorse Daisy Rock are male, including 3 Doors Down, Robert Smith of The Cure and Justin Meldal-Johnsen of Beck.

Suggested donation for all events is only $2.00 per person. If you need more information please email
